In recent years, Niagara Falls has developed into a rather diverse shopping region. You’ll be able to find just about anything you could imagine, from antiques to modern day luxury items. Perhaps you’re just looking to shop! Maybe you want to take advantage of currency differences and explore some everyday shopping experiences. Or you’re just a discount shopper looking for great deals. Well, I always advise people to avoid the tourist traps of Niagara Falls and head for higher ground by following the locals to the best Niagara Falls Shopping in the Region. https://findlocality.in/

A 10 minute drive from Niagara Falls is the city of St. Catharines. While St. Catharines is home to almost twice the amount of people as Niagara Falls, it also houses the largest shopping center in the region called The Pen Centre. With over a million square feet of shopping, and over 180 stores you’ll find everything you’re looking for here. Locals find great values here, so if you have foreign currency strength on your side, you’ll be happy you visited. Keep in mind, when shopping in Canada we have 13% sales tax to consider that is not on the price tag, so don’t be surprised when you cash out.

Niagara Falls also has a shopping plaza called Niagara Square Shopping Centre. For those of you not too exciting about the drive to St. Catharines, can opt for the closer shopping plaza. It is located by McLeod Road and QEW, and recently has been renovated to include many new stores. While in recent years Niagara Square was not as popular, it’s moving again with the renovations and new stores like Jysk, Future Shop, Winners, The Brick, the Mandarin and more. If you’re planning an early rise, stop at Cora’s Breakfast at the Niagara Square entrance for a top notch breakfast to start your shopping day. Even if Niagara Square is not as large as The Pen Centre, you will still find just about everything and you can expect local pricing.

Here’s a destination that I think is a hidden gem for international travels looking for some of our everyday shopping. Near downtown St. Catharines, there’s a shopping area called Smart Centre. Located by 4th Avenue, and Martindale road, is a variety of strip plazas and large department stores. Here you can find anchors stores such as Wal-Mart, Home Sense, Canadian Tire, Golf World, The Brick, Zehrs Superstore and more. In the strip malls you’ll find electronics, maternity stores, brand name stores and more, so explore all your options. The plus is you can drive around and see all the stores from your vehicle, then decide where you want to shop and park. In a mall setting you have to go in and pass them all by foot, which can sometimes zap your energy for the day.

Now while some of these Canadian stores may not sound appealing, you may need more insight. Here’s a quick overview of some of my favourite shopping stores.

1. The Superstore is a one stop store for groceries, clothing, electronics, pharmacy, and more. Kind of like a Wal-Mart, except higher quality and better taste.

2. Canadian Tire began as an automotive tire supply shop and has developed into a massive nation-wide department store empire. Here you’ll find everything for your home and entire family, but don’t let Dad get carried away.

3. Future Shop is a home electronics retailer and sells just about anything electronic from televisions to the kitchen fridge. It would be comparable to a large Circuit City in the US.

4. Winners is a Canadian department store chain that sells brand named items at 20 to 60% off usual retail value. It resembles the same type of system as its US rival Marshalls.

While these types of stores are comparable to some large US stores, the products and pricing will probably vary. So be sure to check out these great shopping options and enjoy the savings.
