For the safety of the individuals who handle these harmful items, the hazardous materials management program is combined with training sessions as well. There are three types of training – IMDG, IATA and 49 CFR.

The IMDG training is for those individuals who work for international ocean shipments, the IATA training is for international air shipments and 49 CFR training is for domestic rail, truck, barge, ocean and air shipments.

Along with these, a HAZMAT professional also gives the shippers information about packing, marking labeling and other procedures involved with the shipping of these harmful items.

The training session lasts for two to three days and covers all the IMDG packaging, marketing and labeling. The professionals also help the shippers how to fill out the IMO HAZMAT declaration.
